Who Are You Really?

Posted on March 27, 2008

We are all products of social conditioning and until we examine where our most dominant beliefs stem from, we have no power to weed out extraneous things that don’t add value to us. Each of us has endured multiple scenarios—some good and some bad, that have ultimately shaped the way we understand ourselves, as well as, the world around us. Until we begin reexamining our most pervasive thoughts and ideas, we’ll never experience any real growth in our lives. Listen, you’re going to go through a life-long process of constantly peeling away layers. You’ll be stripping off old negative patterns of thinking and behavior. You’ll be shedding false notions and ideas. You’ll be deciphering between what is true and what is merely posturing as truth.

If you continue feeding your mind with the truth of God’s word and growing intellectually, something awesome will begin to happen. With each passing day, you’ll become more of the person God created you to be before the foundations of the world, and less of what others molded you into.

Knowing the difference is the key. I wonder; have you ever stopped to examine your paradigms? Have you ever questioned your thought processes? Have you ever considered how you developed certain preferences, biases, theories, and philosophies?

If not, you need to. Otherwise, you’ll go through life on autopilot, without any awareness of how you arrived where you are. You’ll never be able to connect the dots. You won’t understand that your life is the sum total of your actions. Furthermore, you won’t realize that your actions are byproducts of your most dominant thoughts.

Thus, until you understand the correlation between your thoughts and actions, you’re powerless to improve your life. What’s more, if you don’t understand the origin of your thoughts, you are unable to root out the negative factors that are hindering your progress.

You can’t coast through life believing that it is a series of unrelated incidents, because that’s not true. You have to understand the cause and effect relationship that is currently at work in you. Whatever you are sowing, that is what you are reaping. If you don’t like what you’re getting back, change what you’re putting out. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7 NKJV).

Before you can fully begin reaping the wonderful harvest of blessings God has for you, you must get to know who you really are— not simply who you were raised to be; not who others said you are; and not who you pretend to be. Rather, you must tap into who God designed you to be.

The only way this can be accomplished is by putting your faith and trust in Him, and letting Him lead and guide you into all truth.

Until next time . . . . may you be empowered to prosper!
